I remembered my mom used to say " Girls are like flowers, when in bloom, bees will gather and will take away its beauty". As a kid, I don't really understand what it means. But as years passed by, I realized the meaning of those words.
As a young woman, maybe 13 or 14 years old I had few admirers. Most of them went to visit me at home. And even if she doesn't show it, I can tell by the look on her face that she was not happy about it. I understand that she's only protecting me from getting into a relationship because of my young age. I was still so vulnerable and innocent that's what she always said.
And now that I have a daughter, I keep on telling her " Girls are like flowers".. Though she may not yet understand everything. I know just like me, she will someday remember that once her mom used to say those words "Girls are like flowers".. Then she will understand.
Korek..specially these days dapat bantayan mabuti mga teen girls hindi lang sa mga manliligaw pati na mga masasamang loob
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right Jen. Siguro kahit malaki na ang daughter ko, I'll still pick her up at school. Kahit gawin akong school bus ok lang basta safe lang sya lagi.
DeleteAng ganda mo Emz. 13 palang, may manliligaw na! Hehe!
ReplyDeleteMoms will always be Moms. They'd do anything to protect their flowers from abusive bees who's intention was only to take advantage of them.
Thanks Lainy. Cute lang siguro ako noon.:-) Pag nagiing mommy ka na rin, you will remember this post.LOL!
DeleteYou are right, we will never understand until we are in the situation. I am also very protective of my girls especially with my eldest because I know sooner or later she would be a teenager, I might tell her this.. Hehehe
ReplyDeleteGood advice, Sis, Perhaps para lalong maintindihan ng daughter mo, be specific, Tell her kung anong flower bloom siya.. ha,ha,ha.. Sensya na po sa kakulitan ko.
ReplyDeleteThank you Papaleng. She said she's a red flower. I just don't know anong red. Basta lang, red flower daw sya! Mas makulit pa yata itong daughter ko!

ReplyDeleteSo true! " Girls are really like flowers" na dapat ding alagaan para mas mag bloom. Lovely shots by the way!
ReplyDeleteThanks anney! I'm still trying to enhance my photography skills.
DeleteThat is the reason why I'm over-protective with my daughter. maraming bubuyog!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are precious creatures sis, just like flowers. We have our blooming time and then we also wither. I understand what your mom used to tell you when you were young and vulnerable because my mom was protective too. All these things become a full circle when you become a mom yourself. And now that I have a 14 yr old daughter, I find myself uttering the same things my mom used to tell me. And as parents, we can only be there for them and give them guidance and advise and hope and pray too that they will heed and respect the values we have instilled to them.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a girl but I have a precious son that I can tell Girls are like flowers, they should be respected and love:)
ReplyDeleteoh, so coincidental, I overheard a few of my Grade 8 students today ( 13-14 years old) talking about relationships, so, I kind of joined them in conversation and asked them if they are serious about getting into relationship, i can see from their eyes the excitement of being adored by someone, but at the same time, they acknowledged (or maybe they just wanted to make me happy by saying it) that they are still too young to be in a relationship. i just hope they will do well in protecting themselves, and am sure your daughter will too, with you being around to guide her living the joys and pains of being a teen. beautiful shots of the flowers Ems, and love the words of wisdom from your mom.
ReplyDeleteIt's so true!
ReplyDeletePlus, I love the photos! ♥
Nice pics, Emz! And yes, I agree with you that girls are like flowers. I made a poem about that for my 18th birthday, so rest assured, when the right time comes, your daughter will understand what that means :)
ReplyDeleteIt may be a very simple line, but it's true. Girls are really like flowers that must be taken cared of. =)
ReplyDeleteI so can relate sis. I am also have my little girl who is really growing up too fast. May God always protect and guide our girls.
